Emerald Isle Beach Music Festival is one of the most anticipated events in the region. Usually happening in late September at Western Ocean Regional Beach Access, this fall festival celebrates beach music, also known as Carolina Beach Music, a genre that reflects the cultural heritage of the Southeastern US.

Throughout the weekend, well-known and emerging performers fill the beach with beach music rhythms. Learn Shag dancing from the locals, grab a bite from one of the food trucks and vendors set up around, and buy an Emerald Isle Beach Music Festival t-shirt to take home as a souvenir. The event’s atmosphere provides all you need for a perfect beach experience: good music, food, friendly people, and stunning scenery.

Here’s a tip: bring chairs and blankets for a more comfortable experience. If you’re traveling with your furry pal, they’re welcome to join the festival but they need to be on a leash at all times. Admission is free.

Emerald Isle Fall Fishing Tournament

Every September, the Emerald Isle Wildlife Ramp hosts the annual Emerald Isle Fall Fishing Tournament. Over a weekend, professionals, anglers of all levels, and fishing enthusiasts from all over can compete in different categories and win great prizes — including young anglers, as prizes are offered to participants aged 15 and younger.

The categories include surf fishing, pier fishing, and boat fishing, with common catches such as king mackerel, flounder, red drum, and speckled trout. The event also features silent auctions, with proceeds benefiting local students and initiatives. What’s more, this is a great opportunity to meet the locals who are always enthusiastic to share their passion for fishing and Emerald Isle.

Note: the event is free, but participants need to register in advance.

Emerald Isle Marathon

Late October is the time to get active and join the annual Emerald Isle Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K. With the starting point and finishing line at Western Ocean Regional Beach Access, participants of all levels are welcome to take part in the marathon set against Emerald Isle’s gorgeous coastal scenery.

If you’re traveling with kids in tow, every early September at the Emerald Isle Community Center, the Emerald Isle Day4Kids promises a day filled with family fun, community engagement, learning, and lots of unique activities to entertain children of all ages.

Highlights include inflatable rides, carnival-style games, a temporary tattoo station, art stations, face painting, photo booths, and the appearance of the EI Sea Turtle Patrol’s mascot. Vendors selling hot dogs, cotton candy, and drinks are also available for when you need a snack. That’s not all! 

Live performances by local musicians, magicians, and dance groups add to the fun. Local organizations also participate with booths offering information on children’s education and health. Most of them host activities such as hands-on arts and crafts projects and gift giveaways.

North Carolina Seafood Festival

Happening on the first full weekend in October at Morehead City Waterfront, the North Carolina Seafood Festival is one of the most popular events in the Southern state, drawing thousands of visitors every year.

Beaufort Pirate Invasion
