Upcoming Events in Morehead City
While it may appear from the outside that Morehead is a quiet seaside town, it actually is home to two of the biggest events in the area! Every October, Morehead City hosts the famous NC Seafood Festival. Hundreds of visitors flock to the area for the festival, which features plenty of rides, vendors, and music to enjoy. The highlight of the festival, however, is the scrumptious seafood. Morehead, in particular, is known for its abundant fishing, so you’ll definitely eat well when you attend this festival.
Speaking of seafood, be sure to check out the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament. Every June, you’ll be able to try to catch the biggest blue marlin for a cash prize. Be sure to check out the other great events taking place during the week!
Another famous upcoming event in Morehead City, NC, is the Crystal Coast Countdown. This yearly celebration began in 2010 when the mayor of Morehead challenged his staff to put together a fabulous New Year’s party. His team delivered, and Morehead City hosted its first New Year’s Crab Pot Drop. Since then, the event has grown into a multi-jurisdictional extravaganza, with the nearby towns hosting their own events. The highlight is always Morehead City’s famous drop.
